Dr. Darlene Kluka is a full professor and the Coordinator of Sport Management Programs at Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida.
She is also president of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW).
She has been President of the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS), the first Director of the ICHPERSD Girls and Women in Sport Commission, Deputy Delegate for AAHPERD to the United States Olympic Committee, Vice President of Member Relations and Human Resources, USA Volleyball, a member of Women’s Sports Foundation Advisory Board, International Council, and Research and Education Council.
Dr. Kluka has dedicated her studies to providing sound research and projects designed in the area of sport science, particularly with a focus on women. She is an established scholar at the national and international levels in the areas of sports vision research and sport leadership.
She is the recipient of the NAGWS Honor Award, Women’s Sports Foundation President’s Award, ICHPERSD Scholar in Sport and the Olympic Movement, NAGWS International Pathfinder Award.
Dr. Kluka has authored numerous national and international articles on women and sport and has edited Women, Sport, and Physical Activity: Sharing Good Practice.
In 2001 The Women’s Sports Foundation established The Darlene A. Kluka Women’s Sports and Physical Activity Research Award as the Foundation’s way of respecting Dr. Kluka’s leadership, vision and desire to create a legacy that acknowledges the outstanding performance of researchers.
It encourages their continued commitment to conduct studies involving women, sport and physical activity.
